Persuasive

Definition

Persuasive writing is a written form used to convince, persuade, and/or argue through logic and reason others that the opinion of the writer is correct or best.

How To Write A Persuasive:

  1. Choose a topic you're passionate about.
  2. Determine your stance on the topic (for it, against it, etc.).
  3. Research both sides of the topic (pros and cons, for it and against it, etc.).
  4. Outline thesis statement, body paragraphs (main ideas from research that support your stance), and conclusion.
  5. Write.
  6. Edit.

 

Format:

  1. Introduction paragraph: thesis statement
  2. Body paragraphs:
    1. Body paragraph 1
      1. Main Idea that supports the thesis statement
      2. Two examples that support the main idea.
    2. Body paragraph 2
      1. Second main idea that supports the thesis statement.
      2. Two examples that support this second main idea.
  3. Conclusion paragraph: Call to action for reader to agree with you.
