Definition
A word is the smallest unit of writing that gives meaning.
English has around 1 million words if you include all the words that are no longer used. There are approximately 170,000 active words, but you only need around 10,000-20,000 to be fluent.
Words do not have gender in English.
Types of words include: nouns, verbs, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, and determiners.
You use words to form sentences.
