Punctuation are marks that bring clearer meaning to a sentence.
- Period (.) to end a sentence
- Comma (,) to separate clauses or for the reader to take a breath
- Exclamation point (!) to express emotion or to emphasize a point
- Apostrophe (') to indicate possession or for contractions
- Question mark (?) to express a question
- Colon (:) to set up an independent clause
- Semi colon (;) to connect two independent clauses
- Quotation (") or (') to identify dialogue or quoted text
- Forward slash (/) to signify an 'or' relationship between two words
- Parenthesis ( () ) to separate information for a reader to know but not necessarily to be spoken out loud
- Brackets ( {} or [] ) it signifies an adjustment to originally written text
